Position description:
The application DBA will work within the Wealth Management Distributed DBA group to provide functional support to the application development and application support groups. The DBA will work closely with the application teams to enhance database stability and performance.
The individual chosen for this position should have extensive knowledge and experience in the following areas:
OLTP and DW database design concepts and challenges
SQL performance tuning
SQL programming
Database problem determination and resolution management
Data modeling concepts and techniques
Database design and administration best practices and procedures
Ability to identify and articulate various database design alternatives, gaps, and challenges based upon application requirements
Strong understanding of backup/recovery and disaster recovery solutions for both OLTP and DW database applications.
Experience in/Exposure to OLAP Analytics/Data Mining/Algorithms and Other BI tools
Experience with or exposure to an ETL tool such as Informatica would be advantageous
Experience with Windows PowerShell and developing infrastructure scripts
Ability to socialize SQL development and relational database best practices principles
Skills Required:
Education: at least BS degree with 6+years of experience including some large financial institution engagements
Hands on experience with SQL Server or DB2 UDB for Windows
Knowledge and practical experience of the Windows operating system
Ability to read, write and understand SQL
Good presentation, interpersonal, and written skills with the ability to influence decision makers at all levels of the organization
A team player with the ability to work in a demanding environment
